Outsourcing your shredding needs is actually less expensive than shredding in-house. When you consider the cost of an office shredder, the paid employees’ time taken to operate the shredder, maintenance costs and other implicit costs like electricity and disposal, a comparison with the cost of an outsourced shredding service illustrates that shredding in-house actually costs 40-60% more than an outsourced service. Universal Shredding’s largest security container holds 300 lbs. of paper and our mobile shredding vehicles can shred that amount of paper in 8 minutes. A standard office shredder would need 26 hours to shred the same amount.
By outsourcing your shredding you will
• Increase productivity by giving employees time to do their job and giving you time to run your business
• Reduce your risk of improperly discarding sensitive or proprietary documents
• Improve the security/handling of your confidential information, including confirmation that it was destroyed properly
• Build trust with customers by using an accredited company to destroy their sensitive documents
• Reduce your document storage availability by having regularly scheduled file purges
• Reduce waste disposal costs and know you're protected from "dumpster divers"
• "Go green" by being a business that actively recycles, while adhering to strict standards for handling confidential documents securely
Making the Best Choice
Keeping the sensitive information of your business and customers safe is the easiest way to give everyone a sense of security and peace of mind. When choosing the right company to provide your shredding services, there are several things to consider to determine the right fit.
Frequency
Some companies service a few times per week while others may only require services every few months. We do not require any specific schedule but will recommend a pickup frequency that will best fit your needs for the greatest efficiency and financial benefit.
Call-In Service Available
If you need to schedule an immediate extra shred job due to an unusually large volume of paper we offer call-in service outside of your regular schedule. Our timeframe can generally be guaranteed in just a day or two.
Security Consoles/Containers
We never charge for secure consoles and carts. Our products are locked, tamper-proof and completely secure. Consoles and containers sustaining damage due to normal wear and tear will be replaced at no charge as well. For in office use we offer furniture quality consoles that will blend in with any office décor. Larger wheeled carts are also available.
NAID Member
NAID is the National Association of Information Destruction. They require each company to meet rigorous security standards before they are welcomed as members. NAID is the top association in the shredding industry and they offer many resources to help both their member companies and the businesses that they serve. Universal Shredding is a NAID member.
Certificate of Destruction
We provide a Certificate of Destruction at every visit to your facility. A Certificate of Destruction is a legal document issued after materials have been shredded by a shredding company that provides evidence that every document has been totally destroyed. It should be signed by the company representative, document the date and method of destruction and include a reference number. This is an important legal record for proof of compliance with state and federal laws and should be kept on file.
Live Observation
Your company representative may view the shredding of your materials on a close-circuit camera at any time. You will see that no human hands ever touch your materials. It is all automatically lifted and dumped into the enclosed truck and destroyed.
Contracts and Upfront Payments
Shredding is a competitive business, but we won't require you to pay any start-up fees or initial costs of any kind to get your service started. While contracts are welcome and encouraged to be sure you are getting the best rates, we certainly do not require any service contract that your company is not comfortable with. Our service speaks for itself.
Destruction of Other Media
Hospitals may generate X-rays, and some companies may generate CDs that need shredding or hard drives that must be destroyed. Universal Shredding can destroy virtually anything you need taken care of including proprietary products including clothing and R+D products.
Bonded and Insured
All Universal Shredding employees are bonded and insured. We provide you with the proof. All our drivers undergo background checks, as well as random drug and alcohol testing. We thoroughly screen all our employees. Most Companies stop at bonding their drivers, Universal Shredding goes one step further and carries Errors and Omissions insurance to completely safeguard your materials.
Uniformed Drivers with Visible ID Badges
Universal Shredding’s drivers wear uniforms with their name and company name/logo clearly displayed. In addition, we will meet all security standards your business sets in place.
Recycling and Proper Disposal
