Universal Shredding Team
Universal Shredding proudly began serving the New England area in August 2006. Based just north of Boston, the company evolved from a 35-year old waste management company that to this day remains family-owned and operated. Universal Shredding strives to offer the same level of expertise and superior customer service that has made its partner company, G. Mello Disposal Corp. successful for so many years.
Universal Shredding's customer base is expanding through a targeted marketing and communications campaign and through it's partnership with North American Shredding. Currently, the company is specializing in the banking, telecommunications and local municipalities. Universal Shredding is proud to be the preferred vendor for many of the local public safety buildings and police departments. In addition, Universal Shredding serves the major Verizon telecommunications center for Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.
Universal Shredding is led by President Jason Mello. Mr. Mello brings close to 15 years of expertise in the waste management industry to the company. His management experience includes serving as vice president of G. Mello Disposal and formerly as district sales manager of Starbucks in the Boston area. Mr. Mello graduated from Merrimack College with a degree in business. Growing up in the waste management industry under his father and partner, Gregory Mello, Mr. Mello brings an interesting background to the identity theft prevention industry, a field crippled by dumpster diving.
Heading up the marketing and communications industry, Kelly Woodsum brings more than 17 years of experience in marketing, public relations and advertising. Ms. Woodsum catapulted Universal Shredding into the Boston-North market with a front page Boston Globe North story highlighting Universal Shredding and two of its first customers. The story resulted in a multitude of customer inquiries, new clients and a phenomenal sales piece. Ms. Woodsum holds a masters degree in public relations and communications from Emerson College in Boston.
Universal Shredding's sales division is led by David Woodsum and Steve Rando. With more than 25 years in sales and accounting, Mr. Woodsum has driven the sales efforts of Universal Shredding since day one. First focusing on the accounting industry, Mr. Woodsum used his experience in the field to educate and inform the industry and now works closely with the Massachusetts Society of CPAs. Mr. Woodsum holds an accounting degree from Merrimack College and has worked in sales management in a variety of industries including insurance and toys/gaming for companies like AFLAC and WinStuff, Inc.
Mr. Rando will rely on his 30 years of experience in sales, services, and sales management to help bring Universal Shredding’s sales performance to the next level. He comes to Universal Shredding after five successful years in foodservice sales management. Previously, he spent over 20 years in the sales arena within the high tech industry. Starting in inside sales in 1980, Mr. Rando worked his way into outside sales and sales management for Digital Equipment Corporation. He was the Vice President of Sales for Synet based in Warwick, Rhode Island and started the Internet Security Division for Axiom Corporation in Atlanta Georgia. Mr. Rando brings high energy, a proven track record, and an excellent understanding of the sales process which he will use to continue building Universal Shredding’s business. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration which he received from New Hampshire College.
Universal Shredding looks forward to maximizing its relationship with North American Shredding and its partners. The company's goal is to remain a family-run business offering superior customer service, while continuing to assist our clients in putting a stop to corporate espionage and identity theft.
